Join the Cool City Challenge! We’re sure you’ve heard all the buzz by now and perhaps you have already volunteered to be a Cool Block Leader in 2022. But if you haven’t jumped on this exciting bandwagon yet, it’s not too late!

So what’s the deal? 

Right now, Petaluma is working on an innovative new pilot program called the "Cool City Challenge," a community-based effort that focuses on building up our social networks to help neighborhoods become more planet-friendly, disaster-resilient, and community-rich. This program offers a ONE MILLION DOLLAR grant to those cities who can show they have ample community involvement to achieve major collective action. And we do! The outpouring of support has been overwhelming and Petaluma already far surpassed the 200 Block Leaders required by the program, so we are aiming to hit the 400 Block Leader target that was meant for year two. We can do this because Petaluma is that kind of town!
