SDAT Workshop at the Sonoma-Marin Fairground

Good News - Our town won a grant worth $180K of design assistance from the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Sustainable Design Assessment Team (SDAT)!

The AIA will be visiting Petaluma in August with their team of experts, including urban design, economic, climate, and community development specialists to help us to explore ways to create strong, vibrant, connected neighborhoods.

You are invited to participate in a community-led design workshop at Bianchi Barn (outdoor venue) Sonoma-Marin Fairgrounds, 175 Fairgrounds Drive, on Friday, August 5, from 5:30 to 8:30 pm. A light dinner will be provided.

Share your experiences and ideas in this interactive community workshop where there will be lively discussion on how we might transform our neighborhoods into thriving, green, interactive hubs where people of all ages and abilities have safe access to most of their daily needs, within just a short walk or bicycle ride. This is sometimes referred to as a “15-minute Neighborhood”. Think about questions like these:

  • How can we integrate more community gathering spaces for socializing and recreation?

  • How can we accomplish the tasks of daily life without needing the use of a car?

  • How can we create an environment to better support our local businesses and services?

Want to make such transformations happen? Join us!
